about memorials

Apart from working on public arts projects I also work on memorials.

If I am making a memorial, of any scale, I prefer to make them with as much collaboration with the commisioner as possible, often bringing them into the actual making process. It is their thoughts and marks which make the memorials special and personal.

Smaller scale works will probably be hand carved, which is a more time consuming activity, such as the cross of 1999 and the Six Bells memorial of 1995.
